The Ministry of Defence has confirmed that 10 personnel have been disciplined for publishing sensitive information on social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter.

The Times reports that at least 16 security breaches are known to have place in the past 18 months.

The details were obtained by a Freedom of Information request made by security vendor F-Secure.

In its response, the MoD declined to comment on whether any of its databases or IT systems had been compromised as a result of staff using social networking websites.
